Category: Academic | Closing Date: 17 Jun 2019 | We have an exciting opening for a Lecturer in Farm Animal Health and Welfare to join the Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences. The position will be based at our teaching centre RVC - South of England in Dorset. The position includes the opportunity to combine studying for a PhD investigating aspects of calf housing and rearing with lecturing veterinary undergraduates and postgraduates. Applicants should have clinical veterinary experience of working in the cattle sector and will be expected to contribute to teaching cattle health and welfare at undergraduate and post graduate level. The successful candidate will also be required to take on supervision of Production Animal Residents aiming to sit the European College of Bovine Health Management diploma exams. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher who is capable of delivering existing teaching and help with the development of new courses. In addition to teaching, the role will include the exciting opportunity to undertake a part time PhD (60% of the position) investigating aspects of calf housing and calf rearing. Suitable applicants will have an established interest in this area, and be keen to develop their research across this important part of the cattle industry. This post is suitable for someone with a Veterinary Degree that is registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons who also holds a relevant postgraduate qualification (ECBHM or equivalent). A record of published research is beneficial. Applicants are expected to have previous teaching experience and those with post-graduate training in epidemiology will be at an advantage.
